Our Story

Umoja Sport Foundation was established by Elvis Nshimba. Elvis has vast experience using sport for good, including 10+ years working with Malaika where he lead the Community Centre in offering extensive programming, including literacy, vocational education, sports for development and health classes to more than 5,000 youth and adults, providing life-changing opportunities for the community at large. He is the first person in the DRC to earn Coaches Across Continents accreditation in Purposeful Play. Elvis has also served as a regional leader in the Common Goal community. He has equipped hundreds of coaches in multiple countries to use sport as a tool to help achieve the SDGs. Umoja was born out of his passion for sustainable development, and his desire to use his knowledge and skills for empowering youth in communities across the DRC. Our team shares his passion; we actively collaborate with people locally and globally to bring positive change through sport, education and vocational training in the DRC.
